Purpose. This procedure explains how released jobs are scheduled across presses and finishing equipment so that delivery dates are met with the least changeover time.

1.Scope

This procedure applies to the weekly production schedule for Dandenong South and Geelong and to any daily adjustment made by supervisors. It covers offset, digital, label, finishing and wide format capacity.

2.Weekly schedule

The Press Room Supervisor will prepare the schedule every Thursday for the following week using the released jobs in the Job Ticket Register, the due dates and the standard times from the estimate. Jobs will be grouped by stock and colour sequence to reduce washups and makeready. The schedule will be reviewed at the Monday leadership meeting.

3.Capacity rules

Each press has a planned capacity of 14 hours per day across two shifts with the Friday afternoon maintenance window held clear. Finishing capacity must be checked so that press output does not queue for more than two days. Overtime must be approved by the General Manager.

  • Two shifts, 14 planned hours per press
  • Friday afternoon reserved for maintenance
  • No more than two days of work in progress at finishing
  • Overtime approved by the General Manager

4.Priorities and changes

Client Services may request a priority change only for a confirmed client need, and the supervisor must record the effect on other jobs before agreeing. Breakdowns, stock shortages and staff absence will be handled by resequencing and the affected clients will be told by Client Services the same day.

5.Records

The published schedule and any changes will be saved with the date and the name of the person who made the change so that on-time performance can be analysed.
