Quote and Production Costing Estimate Template
v3.1
Purpose. Use this template to build a production cost estimate and the client facing quote for any print, packaging or signage job.
1.How to use this template
Complete the specification section first, then cost each production stage using the current rate card, then add materials, outwork and freight. The quote must be checked by a second estimator for any job over five thousand dollars before it is sent.
2.Specification
Record the finished size, page count, stock, colours, coverage, finishing, packing and delivery requirements exactly as confirmed with the client. Any assumption must be written into the quote so the client can correct it.
3.Costing method
Estimate prepress time, plates, makeready sheets, run time at the press speed for the stock, finishing operations at the standard rates and material at the current supplier price plus the waste allowance. Apply the margin band approved for the client segment.
- Prepress hours and proofs
- Plates or digital click charges
- Press makeready and run hours
- Finishing operations and rates
- Stock, ink and packaging materials
- Outwork and freight
4.Validity and terms
Quotes are valid for thirty days and are subject to sighting the artwork. The quote must state the delivery lead time from artwork approval and the standard terms of trade.
5.Records
Save the completed estimate in the client folder and record the quote number and value in the Job Ticket Register with the status Quoted.
